Staff well-being and their level of satisfaction has been found to directly impact on organisational performance and ultimately organisational success; dissatisfied staff are unlikely to foster a satisfied customer base, and dissatisfied customers directly impact on the bottom line. Thus, measurement of the staff experience is an integral part of developing the customer experience.”

Ensuring that money is being well spent is always imperative in business – even more so in such frugal times as these. Measuring return on investment can be fairly straightforward on certain occasions. Investments on tangible things (such as stocks, shares, products, etc) can be measured by the amount invested against the amount gained over a certain amount of time. However, measuring return on investments for less tangible things can be more difficult. For example, if a research agency were to conduct a piece of branding research for a Client, how does that Client measure how much of a return on investment it has got from the money paid for the research? If the branding of the company is changed as a result of the research, the amount of impact it has on the company could be huge, but is very difficult to quantify.

This podcast goes some way to explaining the issues highlighted above. It is based upon a white paper written by Paul Hague and Julia Cupman of B2B International entitled “Making effective business decisions: Measuring & maximising the return on investment of market research”.

Another week, another brand new podcast from B2B International… This week’s slice of audio insight is on the topic of pricing – a subject that’s of high importance in the current economic climate.

Knowing where to position your product or service price-wise is key to staying competitive in rockier times. However, price competition doesn’t simply equal low price. Price could just as well refer to price stability or value for money. Perhaps most importantly, price should be seen as a function of perceived value against perceived costs.

This week’s podcast looks into the subject of pricing in more detail: Attempting to understand what your customers (and potential customers) place a monetary value on is perhaps one of the most difficult research tasks that can be undertaken. However, as Paul Hague and Matthew Harrison discuss in this podcast adaptation of their white paper “Pricing Research: What Do Our Customers Value?”, they outline some of the tools that can be used to answer this most tricky of questions.
